North Walsham Town Development Group As a result of the recommendations contained within the North Walsham Town Centre Study, which was completed by consultant Nigel Boldero in November 2007, a Town Development Group (TDG) was being formed, and met for the first time in May 2008. The group comprised of representatives from NCC, NNDC, NWTC, North Walsham Chamber of Trade, Paston College, Police and Griffon. The TDG will explore and identify issues concerning the current operation and future development of the town and economic downturn. Griffon and the North Walsham Town Council are seeking to recruit a Project Officer to undertake research and deliver some visible outcomes with regard to the issues connected with North Walsham Town Centre.
Good Food Trail Funded between Griffon and the Broads & Rivers Leader+, this project aims to raise the profile of the area as a first class destination for quality food and for eating out. Griffon is completing a co-ordinated marketing campaign centre on a Good Food Trail. The trail involves local farmers, other food producers, retailers, accommodation providers, restaurants and pubs. The trail is supported by a colourful leaflet, website page and promoted through local and national media. The project was offically launched in June 2008 at the Scarborough Hill Country Inn. The Good Food Trail forms part of the Tourism promotion of Griffon Country to bring visitors into the area and to encourage residents to use their local businesses. The competition linked into the trail was finalised in January 2009 with £100 being awarded to the winner. The leaflet is still available and was promoted at the recent 'North Norfolk - Simply Outstanding' tourism trade event at Gresham's School in Holt.
