The Partnership was formed in 2003 as a Charitable Limited Company. It is regulated as a charity under the Charities Act by the Charities Commission. It is regulated as a limited company under the Companies Acts by Companies House. The Parternship is required to submit its accounts and an annual return to each of the above bodies. The annual accounts also have to be independently examined by professional accountants.
The Partnership has an obligation under Charity Law to deliver its specific objectives which had to be agreed with both the Charity Commission and Companies House before it could be incorporated. It is not permitted to act outside these objectives.
Its governing documents from the Companies Acts under its memorandum and articles of association which together lay down how it is governed, conduct of meetings and what it can do in terms of borrowing, owning property etc.
The attached constitution and governance document lays down details of how the Griffon Area Partnership is governed and also covers such subject areas as Legal Constitution, Funding and Roles and Responsiblities of the Board of Trustees.
